Jimmy Hicks serves as an Academic Advisor for Exploratory Studies at Colorado State University, where he supports first-year students as they explore academic interests, identify potential majors, and navigate their transition into college life.

Jimmy brings a rich background in student development and academic advising to his role. Before joining Exploratory Studies, he served in multiple positions across Colorado State University. This included roles in University Housing, The College of Business, and the Office of Admissions, where he worked with students living on campus., advised students from orientation through graduation, coordinated mentoring and leadership programs, and helped create inclusive and engaging experiences for new Rams.
Originally from Iowa, Jimmy earned his M.S.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Indiana University and his B.A. in English from The University of Iowa. His professional passions include student belonging, major exploration, and helping students find confidence and clarity in their academic paths.
Outside of work, Jimmy is an avid triathlete, an enthusiastic Game Master for Dungeons & Dragons, a self-proclaimed foodie, and avid reader. Whether its training for his next race, storytelling at the game table, or connecting with students about their goals, Jimmy brings energy, curiosity, and care to everything he does.
